Statement of Quality
The Pleasant Grove Baptist Church is committed to rendering ministry that glorifies God and edifies the Body of Christ, the church. Our goal is to give the best of our time, talent, and treasure so that the Wendell and surrounding communities will see God at work through the ministries. Our charge is to continually assess the needs of our congregation and develop programming that corresponds with those needs in ways that are well planned, well executed, and spiritually uplifting.
Definition of Ministry
We define ministry as meeting the physical, spiritual, and social needs of people with love, and in such a way that it causes the benefactor to assess the state of his/her relationship with Jesus Christ with eternity in mind. It is our mission to assist individuals in coming to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and grow in their relationship with Him.
This ministry is responsible for internal and external audio-visual production of worship services and live streaming events.

This ministry is responsible for enhancing the appearance of our church and keeps the church seasonally decorated.

The Outreach Ministry provides opportunities for disciples to demonstrate the love of Jesus through meeting the felt needs of the community through outreach opportunities.

This ministry is responsible for supervising and operating the kitchens and dining halls at both the church and Carver Center.

Deacons serve the PGBC family by the Senior Pastor in performing pastoral ministries: Proclaiming the gospel to believers and unbelievers, caring for church members and others in the community, and leading the church to engage in fellowship, worship, witness, education, ministry and application.

Deaconess serve and assist in meeting the spiritual needs of the church family by promoting spiritual growth within the body.

The finance ministry assist with counting all monies received and is also charged with the responsibility of preparing and recommending the church budget for the fiscal year.

This ministry seeks to meet the need of hunger in the community through bi-weekly food distributions in partnership with community partners.

This ministry leads the congregation as one body in Christ in raising funds through tithes, offerings and additional special giving to help meet the needs of the church.

The Missionary Ministry assist in the promotion of the evangelistic program of the church. They are the ears, eyes, hands and voice that listens, identifies needs, assists and gives encouraging words from the love of Christ that lies within the hearts of believers.

This ministry provides worship through songs for all services of the church, both regular and special services.

This ministry is responsible for planning and coordinating programs for special services, such as anniversaries, appreciation, and other needs to support the pastor. The pastor’s aide is a devoted group of believers, chosen by God, who have a heart to honor God by honoring their pastor and his/her family. This ministry’s sole purpose is to cover the pastor and his/her family in prayer and love through word and deed.

The Sunday School Ministry is an integral part of the Church. It is a teaching ministry whose purpose is to help educate each disciple in God’s Word through Christian Education which will enhance their spiritual growth.

The Trustee Ministry serves by maintaining the grounds and buildings on the church campus and cemetery and ensuring that all property is insured.

The Ushers coordinate the greeting and seating of worshippers at all church functions in the sanctuary. The Ushers seek to offer a worship experience that will be pleasing to God.

The purpose of our Women’s Ministry is to meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of women at Pleasant Grove and within our community. This ministry is designed to encourage women to grow in their faith in Christ, to develop and strengthen intimate friendships with other women, and to provide opportunities to serve and reach our community for Christ.

The Youth Ministry offers many opportunities for the children that attend our church to know God, love Him and to serve Him. Our Bible study program is a clear and consistent way for children to know Jesus and His plan of salvation. We offer a fun approach to learning God’s word through studying, memorization, rewards, and playing games.
